Primarily an institution created to protect Pennsylvania's final 200 acres of freshwater tidal marsh lands, the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum is home to a vast variety of native species. Visit the Cusano Environmental Education Center to learn more about this special habitat and its non-human inhabitants. It's even possible to hike or canoe in specially designated areas and trails, which offers the opportunity to see many different varieties of birds, mammals, amphibians and fish. The lands are set just north of the Pennsylvania International Airport and they encapsulate the Darby and Bartram lakes.
Grounds open daily sunrise - sunset. Center open daily 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
